Who We Are
We're really pleased you've dropped in our website. It should give you a bit of an idea about what we're on about. You can listen to some talks from church, have a look at the things that happen throughout the week and get in touch with the leadership and staff.
Our Sunday services are at 10am and 5pm. We run small groups throughout the week called Growth Groups — they're a great way to get to know the church community. We run groups for people asking questions about Christian faith and wanting a place to explore those ideas.
Cornerstone is on about following Jesus
Our name, Cornerstone, comes from the conviction that lives need to be built on a firm foundation. Jesus insists that he is that foundation. We take Jesus seriously so what we believe about him matters.
Our History
We grew out of a church planted next to the University of Canterbury in February 2008. With a particular vision of making disciples at the university, Cornerstone Campus Church grew to over 150 members before planting Cornerstone Community Church in 2013, which reaches the suburbs around Riccarton.
We're evangelical in conviction, independent in governance, linked in fellowship with likeminded churches across New Zealand. In 2011, a trust and constitution was established to form what is now the Cornerstone Church Trust. The trust deed defines our structures including the position of a Senior Pastor, an elected Executive and an appointed Board of Reference.
